Fall Classic Game 7 Captures 51 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The exciting 11-inning matchup where the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a aggregate over 50 million spectators in the US, Canadian, and Japan markets. MLB stated this is the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable contest secured over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game after the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, Game 4 was seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game finished in 13th position.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the game drew 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest began at 9 PM local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Totals and Trends

The full seven-game World Series recorded 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total US average was over 16 million. The total World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09M viewers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s best playoff performance since 2017.

MLB reported that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen various languages.
